An independent creative studio for music and ideas.

Giant Heartbeat creates and develops music, software for musicians, and books exploring songwriting, film, and media. The work includes original composition, tools that support focused practice, and published guides designed to deepen understanding and spark creativity. Select collaborations in performance, production, and instruction are approached with the same attention to craft, guided by a philosophy that values discipline, depth, and exploration.

Each project grows from a common foundation: close study, practical experimentation, and a commitment to finishing what begins as an idea. Whether expressed through sound, code, or language, the aim is to create work that is useful, thoughtful, and built to endure.

Books & Creative Guides

Giant Heartbeat publishes books exploring songwriting, film, media, and more. Current titles include With a Little Help from the Beatles, a structured approach to songwriting using prompts inspired by the Beatles’ techniques. Future works will continue to focus on music, storytelling, and creative practice, offering tools and insights to spark creativity and deepen understanding.

Tools for Musicians

Practice Desk is a desktop app designed to make music practice more focused and organized. Musicians can load audio files, adjust speed and pitch independently, loop sections with visual waveform selection, use a feature-rich metronome, save settings snapshots, and attach sheet music or notes — all in one place. Built with attention to craft and detail, Practice Desk will be available shortly to help musicians practice more efficiently and creatively.

Original Music & Collaboration

Giant Heartbeat creates original music for film, video games, and other media, and offers a library of recordings for licensing. Select collaborations in performance, production, or instruction are approached with the same focus on craft and depth. Whether commissioning a score, licensing a track, or working together on a project, each engagement reflects a careful, thoughtful, and humanistic approach to music-making.
